J-Hawk Soccer Club

Mission Statement

The J-Hawk Soccer Club exists to provide a low-cost, volunteer led and volunteer coached soccer experience to youth in the Urbandale community, where players learn the importance of citizenship, teamwork, positive attitude, effort, fundamentals, and sportsmanship, in a safe and welcoming environment.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are always on the look out for those within our soccer family that are interested in helping out within the club. If you or someone you know is looking for a great opportunity to support youth soccer in our community we would love to hear from you. Below are some opportunities that are currently available.

  • No prior experience is necessarily needed, you will be partnered with one of our current volunteers to ask questions, etc.

  • No long term commitments - try it for a season

  • Limited time commitment

Registrar

Do you have a knack for organization? If so, this is a great opportunity to manage and monitor the club's registration activities. This position would also sit on the board and have direct input into club activities.

  • Attend quarterly board meetings

    • Meetings are roughly an hour long

  • Set up and monitor seasonal registration activities

Director of Referees

Do you have a knack for organization? If so, this is a great opportunity to manage the club's internal referees. This position would also sit on the board and have direct input into club activities.

  • Track and monitor games to ensure that all internal games have referees assigned

  • Ensure that referees are paid in a timely manner

  • This would include our 10u and younger teams that play on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons

    • You would not need to be in attendance at these games

    • This would not include older rec and select teams as these would be managed by Iowa Soccer.

Field Coordinators

Do you enjoy being outdoors? If so, this is a great opportunity for mowing and field line maintenance. We are always looking for people to get involved and are looking for someone to help out for an hour or two a week during the Spring through the Fall. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED as we have a group of great individuals that will help train and advise.

  • Mowing

    • Help mow our Martin Field and Upper Field at Walker Johnston Park

    • Looking for people to mow once or twice a week

    • Each time would take roughly 1.5 hours

  • Painting Lines

    • Help paint lines on our Martin Field and Upper Field at Walker Johnston Park

    • The lines will be painted at the beginning of the season and then will just need to be "traced" over every 2-3 weeks.

Field Marshall

Do you have a knack for helping out? If so, this is a great opportunity to help set up fields and help answer any questions that attendees have at soccer games. This requires a limited time commitment to just a few hours every Saturday morning during the spring and fall seasons. There is an opportunity to have multiple volunteers assisting in setting up everything.

  • Setup goals and flags prior to games each Saturday morning. Usually takes 10-15 minutes

  • Help answer any questions that guests or players have about the games being played

  • All games are played on Saturday mornings at the upper fields of Walker Johnston Park in Urbandale
